Your babies may have left the home nest, but that doesn’t mean they will never come home! Chances are that no matter how many years they’ve been away to college, a little bit of home comfort can go a long way, especially if it’s their first year away from Mom and Dad!

One great way of letting them know they’re always in your thoughts is by creating a care package you can send during times in their school year they’d usually turn to you for love and support. . . .  Or you can send one just because! Here are four great care package boxes that are super simple to put together & will no doubt have your kids smiling from ear to ear!

Cold & Flu Sunshine Box

Pack a large yellow box full of all the ingredients needed to get better. (No Mom’s, you cannot pack and ship yourself to their side!) Keep things happy and cheery stuffed with yellow crinkle paper as we all know how much it sucks to be stuck in bed sick and alone! It’s a nice way of letting them know care. Here are some examples of items you can put into your Sunshine Box!

  • Neocitran packets
  • Mug
  • Kleenex
  • Yellow hard candies
  • Chicken noodle soup packets
  • Comedy DVD
  • Fuzzy Socks
  • Magazines

Finals Survival Kit

For some, the horrors of finals and midterms still haunt their dreams. It’s a stressful time, and self care isn’t really at the top of the list, or anywhere close in some cases! Pack a medium sized box (items for this kit can get heavy!) full of items that will keep them fueled for success. Here are some examples of items you can put into your Finals Survival Kit!

  • Red Bull
  • Extra Pens & Pencils
  • Food Gift Card
  • Highlighters
  • Positive Quotes Notebook

Just Add Water Care Package

It’s no secret that when you’re in college, the easiest food is the most eaten food. This care package is more of a funny nod to that notion, and will surely make your college bound kid laugh… and praise you for the awesome idea! Essentially, everything in this care package should be edible by just adding water. All they’ve got to do is boil it! Pack it into a nice wicker basket that they can keep on their desk for quick access to all of their treats. Here are some examples of items you can put into your Just Add Water Package.

  • Ramen noodles
  • Oatmeal
  • Macaroni & Cheese
  • Soup
  • Microwaveable bowls

Breakfast In A Basket

This box may make them shed a tear as it’s warm and homey. Pack a picnic basket full of homemade sweets perfect for a luxurious breakfast. Perhaps they have a favourite loaf of bread, scones or even cookies! Here are some other examples of items you can put into your breakfast in a basket package.

  • Coffee mug
  • Jam
  • Homemade goods (a must!)
  • Tea
  • Pancake mix
  • Granola
